The Australian Government has a new identity system.
If you’ve already got a myGovID, you don’t need to do anything. But from 16 June 2022 you may notice the Payment Times Reporting Portal looks a little different.
You can continue using your current myGovID to access the portal.
What Digital Identity is
Digital Identity is a simple, safe and secure way to prove and reuse your identity online. myGovID is the Australian Government’s Digital Identity app.
Linking myGovID to an Australian Business Number in Relationship Authorisation Manager, enables you to access online government services on behalf of a business.
Why Digital Identity was developed
The federal government’s Financial System Inquiry recommended a national strategy to streamline individual transactions with the government.
In response to this recommendation, the Digital Transformation Agency was tasked with developing a whole-of-economy Digital Identity System that incorporated federal, state and territory government services, as well as those in the private sector.
