This is the first Regulator’s update from recently appointed Regulator, Robyn Beutel. In this update Robyn highlights her priorities for 2025:
- improve the completeness and quality of reporting
- broaden awareness of the Scheme
- create incentives for large businesses to improve their payment times and practices.
These priorities aim to get better outcomes for small businesses.
The Payment Times Reporting Act 2020 has been in operation for 4 years. More than 12,000 reporting entities are registered under the Scheme. There are over 72,000 payment times reports as at 31 December 2024.
2025 marks a new exciting era for the Scheme after reforms in September 2024. The reforms introduced new reporting requirements and incentives. They will:
- provide better transparency
- level the playing field between small and large businesses
- improve cash flow for small businesses
- benefit the wider economy.
The register will publish data under these requirements in the coming months.
